arrow_up_1     Chapter 1

Lord God, thank You for Your words being sent to Gaius, so I might also benefit.

The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.

3-John 1: 1

Lord God, even as my soul prospers, grant me prosperity and health.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

3-John 1: 2

Lord God, let others rejoice when they hear of the truth that is in me, and that I walk in the truth.

For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

3-John 1: 3

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is great joy to share You, and Your Son, with others, and see them walking in truth.

Lord God, thank You for causing those that seek You, find You, and making my joy complete.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

3-John 1: 4

Lord God, help me be faithful in my dealings with the brethren, as well as with strangers, and allow them to bear witness of my love before the church.

Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers, who have borne witness of your love before the church.

3-John 1: 5 (NKJV)

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that if we faithfully tend to others, and send them on their journey in a manner worthy of You, we do well.

Lord God, cause people that I have tended to their needs, to be sent forward on their journey in a manner worthy of You.

If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well,

3-John 1: 6 (NKJV)

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to help those who are relying on You for their substance, which makes us fellowhelpers of the truth.

Lord God, cause me to show hospitality to those who are going forth for Your name's sake, and who are relying on You for their substance, so I may work together with others for the truth.

Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.  We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.

3-John 1: 7-8

Lord God, change the hearts of those in the church, that wish to have first place among men, who do not respect authority, are malicious gossipers, refuse to welcome believers, or who stop others who want to welcome them, and put them out of the church.

I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.  Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.

3-John 1: 9-10

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not follow that which is evil, but that which is good.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who do food are of God, and he that does evil has not seen God.

Lord God, help me be a follower of what is good, and to do good in Your sight.

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

3-John 1: 11

Lord God, cause me to have good report of all men, and of the truth itself.

Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

3-John 1: 12

Lord God, thank You, not only for Your word, but also for personal fellowship, for salutations, and for the peace offered to believers. Allow me to have fellowship with other believers, face to face, and be able to greet my friends by name.

I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:  But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

3-John 1: 13-14
