arrow_up_1     Chapter 1

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to count it joy when I fall into numerous temptations.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the trying of my faith develops patience.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to let patience have her perfect work, that I may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Lord God, cause me to experience joy when I face trials, and give me confidence that trials of my faith will develop perseverance, perseverance will develop maturity, and maturity will develop fulfillment.

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James 1: 2-4

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to ask of You, of I lack wisdom.

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, that You give all men wisdom, and you give it liberally.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You are not critical, or angry when men as You for wisdom.

Lord God, I lack wisdom. Please give me Your wisdom, and place it in my heart.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 1: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to ask You for wisdom in faith, and do not waver in my expectation that You will give it to me.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who do not expect to receive wisdom when they ask You for it, are like the waves of the sea, driven with the wind and tossed.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who do not expect to receive wisdom when they ask You for it, should not think that he will receive anything from You.

Lord God, cause me to not doubt that You will give me wisdom, and You want to give me wisdom. Make me a person of great faith, and give me wisdom in abundance.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

James 1: 6-7

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, that those who endure temptation when they are tried are blessed.

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, that You will give the crown of life to those who love You.

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, that You will give the crown of life to those who endure temptation when they are tried.

Lord God, cause me to love You, and to endure temptation when I am tried.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

James 1: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that every good and perfect gift is from above.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You are the Father of lights.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that every good and perfect gift comes down from You.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that there is no variableness with You.

Lord God, thank You for being the provider of good and perfect gifts, and for revealing that Your attributes, and promises do not change.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 1: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that we are able to be born through the word of truth.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that being born through the word of truth, we can be a type of firstfruit of Your creatures.

Lord God, cause me to be born through the word of truth.

Lord God, cause me to be a kind of firstfruit of Your creatures.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

James 1: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to be swift to hear.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to be slow to speak.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to be slow to get angry.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the wrath of man does not result in righteousness.

Lord God, cause me to be swift to hear.

Lord God, cause me to be slow to speak.

Lord God, cause me to be slow to anger.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 1: 19-20

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to rid ourselves of moral filth, and evil.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to humbly receive the word You have planted in us.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that setting aside our wickedness, and  humbly receiving the word You have planted in us, is able to save our souls.

Lord God, cause me to set aside my wickedness, and humbly receive the word You have planted in me.

Lord God, save my soul, according to Your promise.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James 1: 21

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to be doers of the word, and not hearers only.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are not doers but are only hearers of the word, deceive themselves.

Lord God, cause me to be a doer, and not only a hearer of Your word.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

James 1: 22

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are hearers of the word, and not doers, are like a man beholding his natural image in a mirror, beholding himself, then going his way, forgetting what manner of man he is.

Lord God, through Your word, reveal my needful condition, and cause me to walk in Your ways. Guide me along a path that pleases You.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

James 1: 23-24

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who look into Your perfect law that gives freedom, and abides by it, not being a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, shall be blessed in their deed.

Lord God, cause me to look into Your perfect law that gives freedom, and abide by it.

Lord God, cause me to not be a forgetful hearer, but make me a doer of the work.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James 1: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who seem religious, but do not control their tongue, deceive their own heart.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who seem religious, but do not control their tongue, have a vain religion.

Lord God, cause me to not only seek after righteousness, but also cause me to keep control of my tongue.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

James 1: 26

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that pure religion before You, is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep ourselves unspotted from the world.

Lord God, cause me to do everything as if in Your presence, to seek Your favor, and to study to please You in all my actions.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1: 27

arrow_up_1     Chapter 2

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not show favoritism, as we hold onto faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Jesus Christ is the Lord of glory.

Lord God, cause me to hold on to faith in my Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of glory.

Lord God, when it comes to my faith, cause me to not show favoritism to some.

My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

James 2: 1-4

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that whoever keeps the whole law, and yet offends in one point, is guilty of all.

Lord God, I have stumbled in at least on point of Your law, and admit by Your standards, that I am guilty of them all.

Lord God, thank You for providing a remedy, for my sins to be forgiven.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

James 2: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to speak and act as one who will be judged by the law of Liberty.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that mercy triumphs over judgment.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You will judge without mercy, those who have shown no mercy.

Lord God, cause me to speak and act as one who will be judged by the law of liberty.

Lord God, cause me to show forgiveness and mercy, and to be someone who rejoices against judgment.

So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment

James 2: 12-13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that to believe there is one God is to do well, but the devils also believe, and tremble.

Lord God, cause me to believe You are one God, and give me faith as well as the ability to seek after You.

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

James 2: 19

arrow_up_1     Chapter 3

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, that not many should become teachers, knowing that teachers will be judged more strictly.

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

James 3: 1

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

James 3: 5-6

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

James 3: 13-14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that where envying and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work.

Lord God, keep me from envy, and from strife.

Lord God, keep me from evil works.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

James 3: 16

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

James 3: 17-18

arrow_up_1     Chapter 4

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

James 4: 1

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

James 4: 2

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that we ask, and do not receive, because we ask amiss, that we may consume it on our own lusts.

Lord God, cause me to ask of You rightly, not asking for things that are to satisfy my lusts.

Lord God, guide me in my prayers, so I can accomplish Your will and purposes.

Lord God, increase my desire to seek Your will, and let the answers to my prayers help others and glorify You.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

James 4: 3

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to submit ourselves to You.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to resist the devil.

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, that if we submit ourselves to You, and resist the devil, he will flee from us.

Lord God, cause me to submit myself to You.

Lord God, cause me to resist the devil.

Lord God, as I submit myself to You and resist the devil, cause him to flee from me.

Lord God, firmly establish in me a desire to submit to You, and to stand ready to resist what is evil.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your promise, to draw near to us, if we will draw near to You.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to draw near to You.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction to the double minded, to cleanse their hands, and purify their hearts.

Lord God, cause me to cleanse my hands, and purify my hearts.

Lord God, take away my double mindedness.

Lord God, draw near to me.

Lord God, cleanse my hands, and purify my heart. Captivate my mind, so it will be focused on You alone. Draw me to You through righteousness, and as You promised, draw near to me.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 4: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to humble ourselves in Your sight.

Lord God, cause me to humble myself in Your sight.

Lord God, thank You for Your promise to lift up those who humble themselves in Your sight.

Lord God, cause me to be humble and not think higher of myself than I should. Encourage me, and deliver me in times of trouble.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

James 4: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that our lives are but a vapor, that appears for a little time, then vanishes away.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that we do not know what things will happen tomorrow.

Lord God, cause me to be mindful that my life is short, and I need to seek You while I am able.

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

James 4: 14

Lord God, thank you for revealing Your truth, that only if You will, shall I live, and be able to carry out my plans.

Lord God, cause me to be mindful that Your will is always done, and the plans of men are nothing more than than hopeful ideas.

For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

James 4: 15

arrow_up_1     Chapter 5

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not swear by heaven, or by earth, or by any other earth.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, that our Yes, should be, "Yes", and our No, should be "No", or else we might fall into condemnation.

Lord God, cause me to not swear by heaven, by earth, or by any other oath.

Lord God, cause my Yes, to be, "Yes", and my No, to be "No", and keep me from falling into condemnation.

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who converts the a sinner from the error of his ways, hides a multitude of sins.

Lord God, if I err from the truth, send someone to convert me, save my soul from death, and in doing so hide a multitude of sins.

Lord God, cause me to be converted from the error of my ways, save my soul from death, and hide a multitude of my sins.

Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
