Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You prepare men's hearts, and You provide the answer of their mouths.

 

Lord God, prepare my heart, provide the answer of my tongue, and cause me to seek after righteousness.

 

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

 

Proverbs 16: 1

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that all the ways of man are clean in his own eyes, but You weigh the motives.

 

Lord God, cause my ways to be clean, and my motives to be pure in Your sight.

 

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

 

Proverbs 16: 2

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who commits their works to You, will have their plans succeed.

 

Lord God, cause my works to be committed to You, and establish my thoughts.

 

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

 

Proverbs 16: 3

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that all things are made for Yourself, even the wicked for the day of evil.

 

The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

 

Proverbs 16: 4

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that whoever has a proud heart is an abomination to You, and even if they are in agreement with others, they will not go unpunished.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be proud in heart, or an abomination to You.

 

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

 

Proverbs 16: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that mercy and truth purge iniquity, and the fear of You causes men to depart from evil.

 

Lord God, cause me to fear You, depart from evil, and cause mercy and truth to purge my iniquity.

 

By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

 

Proverbs 16: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when a man's ways please You, You make even his enemies to be at peace with him.

 

Lord God, cause my ways to please You, and make my enemies to be at peace with me.

 

When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

 

Proverbs 16: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better to have a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and whether I have a little, or a lot, cause justice to prevail.

 

Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

 

Proverbs 16: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a man's heart devises his way, but You direct his steps.

 

Lord God, as I make my plans, please direct my way.

 

A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

 

Proverbs 16: 9

Lord God, place it on the hearts of kings, to seek You for the words of their mouth, and to not transgress in judgment.

 

A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a just weight and balance are Yours, and all the weights in the bag are Your work.

 

Lord God, cause me to always use a just weight and balance.

 

A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

 

Proverbs 16: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, for thrones are established by righteousness.

 

Lord God, cause the kings of the earth, to stay away from wickedness.

 

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

 

Proverbs 16: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that kings delight in righteous lips, and they love those who speak right.

 

Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

 

Proverbs 16: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a king's fury is a messenger of death, but a wise man appeases it.

 

The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

 

Proverbs 16: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when a king's face lights up, there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.

 

In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

 

Proverbs 16: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is much better to get wisdom than gold, and to get understanding rather than silver.

 

Lord God, cause me to choose getting wisdom, over riches.

 

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

 

Proverbs 16: 16

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the highway of the upright is to depart from evil, and he that keeps his way preserves his soul.

 

Lord God, cause my ways to be righteous, and to departure from evil, keeping righteous paths, and preserving my soul.

 

 

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

 

Proverbs 16: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

 

Lord God, keep me from pride and from harboring an arrogant spirit, so I may stay away from destruction, and avoid a fall.

 

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

 

Proverbs 16: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

 

Lord God, cause me to choose being lowly in spirit among the poor, than to share the plunder with the proud.

 

Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

 

Proverbs 16: 19

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who give thought to the word will discover good, and those who trust in the Lord will be blessed.

 

Lord God, cause me to give thought to the word, and to trust in You.

 

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

 

Proverbs 16: 20

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the wise in heart will be called prudent, and pleasant speech increases learning.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise in heart, and to use pleasant words when instructing.

 

The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

 

Proverbs 16: 21

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that understanding is a wellspring of life unto those who have it, but the instruction of fools is folly.

 

Lord God, cause me to draw from understanding that is a wellspring of life, and to stay away from the instruction of fools.

 

Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

 

Proverbs 16: 22

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a wise heart instructs its mouth, and increases learning with its speech.

 

Lord God, cause me to have a wise heart that guides my mouth, and cause my lips to promote instruction.

 

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

 

Proverbs 16: 23

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul, and health to the body.

 

Lord God, teach me to use pleasant words that are sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

 

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

 

Proverbs 16: 24

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is the ways of death.

 

Lord God, cause me to disregard ways that may seem right to men, but the end is in the ways of death, and cause me to follows ways which end in the ways of life.

 

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

 

Proverbs 16: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a laborers hunger drives him to labor.

 

Lord God, give me the desire to labor, without the need to hunger.

 

He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that ungodly men dig up evil, and in their lips, there is a burning fire.

 

Lord God, cause me to not dig up evil, and keep my lips from producing strife or contentions.

 

An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

 

Proverbs 16: 27

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a dishonest man sows strife, and a gossiper separates close friends.

 

Lord God, keep me from soiwng strife, and from gossiping.

 

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

 

Proverbs 16: 28

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that violent men entice their neighbors, and lead them in ways that are not good.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be violent, and to not lead my neighbors in ways that are not good.

 

A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

 

Proverbs 16: 29

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that violent men shut their eyes to meditate on ways to commit sin, and their lips bring evil things to pass.

 

Lord God, cause me to not devise sinful things, and to not speak, and cause evil things to pass.

 

He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

 

Proverbs 16: 30

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that gray hair is a crown of glory, it is found in the way of righteousness.

 

Lord God, cause me to be found in the way of righteousness.

 

The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.

 

Proverbs 16: 31

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are slow to anger, are better than the mighty, and those who rule their spirit, than those who take a city.

 

Lord God, cause me to be slow to anger, and to rule my spirit well.

 

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

 

Proverbs 16: 32

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from You.

 

Lord God, thank You for governing this world, even when it seems to be by chance.

 

The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.

Lord God, cause me to have a quiet demeanor, and my house to be peaceful.

 

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

 

Proverbs 17: 1

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a wise servant will rule over a son who causes shame.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a wise servant who has rule over a son that causes shame, will have a part of the inheritance among the brethren.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, and to gain an inheritance.

 

A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

 

Proverbs 17: 2

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the refining pot is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, but You try the hearts.

 

Lord God, cause me to pass through times of Your testing, and come out with a purified heart.

 

The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.

 

Proverbs 17: 3

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who is wicked gives heed to false lips, and a liar gives ear to a spiteful tongue.

 

Lord God, cause me to disregard evil and spiteful speech, but incline my ear to wisdom.

 

A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

 

Proverbs 17: 4

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who mock the poor are a reproach to You who made them, and you take personally the mistreatment of them.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are glad at others calamities, will not go unpunished.

 

Lord God, cause me to consider the poor, to help them, and not be glad when calamity overcomes a foe.

 

Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

 

Proverbs 17: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Children's Children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children are their fathers.

 

Lord God, cause me to consider my children's children as a crown, and the that life has dimensions that stretch far into the future.

 

Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

 

Proverbs 17: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that excellent speech is not fitting for a fool, and much less, lying lips are not fitting for a prince.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous with excellent speech, and cause the words of my lips to be true.

 

Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

 

Proverbs 17: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a present is a precious stone in the eyes of its possessor, wherever he turns, he prospers.

 

Lord God, cause me to not make consideration of bribes, and keep me from being part of the injustices they may cause.

 

A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

 

Proverbs 17: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that love prospers when sin is covered, and those who repeat a matter separate friends.

 

Lord God, cause me to overlook transgressions, and to not repeat matters that are better left alone.

 

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

 

Proverbs 17: 9

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that verbal correction changes the heart of a wise man, more than a hundred stripes changes the heart of a fool.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, and to regard wise reproof.

 

A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool.

 

Proverbs 17: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that an evil man seeks rebellion, so a cruel messenger will be sent against him.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and to not seek rebellion.

 

An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

 

Proverbs 17: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better for a man to meet a bear robbed of her cubs, than a fool in his folly.

 

Lord God, keep me from the path of fools in their folly.

 

Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

 

Proverbs 17: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who reward evil for good, will not have evil depart from their house.

 

Lord God, cause me to not reward evil for good, and keep evil from entering my house.

 

Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

 

Proverbs 17: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, so it is best to stop contentions, before a quarrel breaks out.

 

Lord God, cause me to stop contentions before they start, and avoid quarreling.

 

The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

 

Proverbs 17: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who justify the wicked, and condemn the just, are both an abomination to You.

 

Lord God, keep me from justifying the wicked, or condemning the just.

 

He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

 

Proverbs 17: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is useless for a fool to try and get wisdom, as he has no heart for it.

 

Lord God, cause me to have a heart to gain wisdom, and to be established in it.

 

Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?

 

Proverbs 17: 16

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a friend loves at all times, and a brother's love is especially seen in adversity.

 

Lord God, cause me to value my friends who love at all times, and my brothers who are there for me in adversity.

 

A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

 

Proverbs 17: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a man void of understanding, strikes a pledge for someone who is deemed insolvent or dishonest, and whose own word to insure a transaction is not sufficient.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, and not strike hands in pledge for others.

 

A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend.

 

Proverbs 17: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who love strife, also love  transgression.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who trusts in fancy walls and gates, or exhibit boastful speech, seek their own destruction.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and to not love strife, or transgression. Cause me to not trust in fancy walls or gates, or boast of them with my mouth.

 

He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

 

Proverbs 17: 19

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those with a crooked heart will not find good.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those with deceitful speech will fall into evil.

 

Lord God, cause me to have a righteous heart, and a righteous tongue.

 

He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.

 

Proverbs 17: 20

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that he who is the parent of a fool, does it to his sorrow, and his father does not have joy.

 

Lord God, cause my children to be wise, and seek after wisdom, and cause me to have joy in them.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, seek after wisdom, and give my father joy.

 

He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy.

 

Proverbs 17: 21

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

 

Lord God, give me a merry heart, and keep me from having a crushed spirit.

 

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

 

Proverbs 17: 22

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a wicked man takes secret bribes to pervert the course of justice.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be involved in the giving or taking of secret bribes, and keep me from being a victim of improper justice, by others who are perverting justice.

 

A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.

 

Proverbs 17: 23

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that wisdom is in the presence of those who have understanding, but the eyes of the fool wander aimlessly.

 

Lord God, cause me to have wisdom always before me, and keep my mind fixed on it.

 

Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.

 

Proverbs 17: 24

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

 

Lord God, cause me not to be a grief to my father, or bitterness to my mother.

 

A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.

 

Proverbs 17: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is not good to punish the just.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is not good to resist good rulers.

 

Lord God, cause me to not punish the just, or resist rulers that are good.

 

Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

 

Proverbs 17: 26

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who have knowledge are of few words, and a man of understanding is gracious and easy to get along with.

 

Lord God, cause my words to be few, but pleasant, and make me gracious and easy to get along with.

 

He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

 

Proverbs 17: 27

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that even a fool, when he keeps quiet, is counted wise, and he that shuts his lips, is esteemed a man of understanding.

 

Lord God, incline my heart to keep silent, when it is not wise for me to speak.

 

Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that desiring wisdom, those having separated themselves, can seek after and study wisdom, but should not forget about others around them.

 

Lord God, cause me to seek after wisdom with my whole heart, and not become unconcerned about the needs of others.

 

Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

 

Proverbs 18: 1

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that fools do not delight in understanding, but like to express their own heart.

 

Lord God, cause me to delight in understanding, and to place it's truths in my heart.

 

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

 

Proverbs 18: 2

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when the wicked come, they bring with them contempt, dishonor, and disgrace.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and not bring contempt, dishonor, or disgrace to myself, or to those around me.

 

When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

 

Proverbs 18: 3

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the words of a man are like deep waters, and a fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

 

Lord God, cause there to be fountains of wisdom around me, so I may drink, and cause me to be a fountain of wisdom, so others may also drink.

 

The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.

 

Proverbs 18: 4

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is not good to respect the wicked in judgment, or deprive the righteous of justice.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be involved with the wicked being shown partiality in judgment, or the righteous being deprived of justice.

 

It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

 

Proverbs 18: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that fools quickly enter into contention, and their rash language ensnares them.

 

A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

 

Proverbs 18: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a fools mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snares of his soul.

 

Lord God, do not let my mouth destroy me, or my lips snare my soul.

 

A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

 

Proverbs 18: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the words of a gossip are like sweet morsels, that go into a man's mind and heart.

 

Lord God, keep me from being a gossiper, and from being around those who spread these evil words.

 

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.

 

Proverbs 18: 8 (NIV)

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are slack in their work, and those who are very wasteful.

 

Lord God, cause me to work hard, and not waste what is given me.

 

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Your name is a strong tower, and the righteous run into it and are safe.

 

Lord God, Your name is a strong tower. Cause me to be righteous, and able to run to it to find safety.

 

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

 

Proverbs 18: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a rich man's wealth is his fortified city, and in his imagination, it is like a high wall.

 

Lord God, cause me to trust in You, and not in wealth.

 

The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.

 

Proverbs 18: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a proud heart leads to destruction, and humility leads to honor.

 

Lord God, cause me to have a humble heart, and to act in humility.

 

Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

 

Proverbs 18: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who answer a matter before they hear it are foolish, and it is folly and shame to him.

 

Lord God, cause me to listen to a matter, before declaring an answer.

 

He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

 

Proverbs 18: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that being ill, and the trials of life are all bearable, but to have a crushed spirit is unbearable.

 

Lord God, give me Your joy, and Your hope, and cause me to impart it to others.

 

The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

 

Proverbs 18: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who would learn, and become wise, give their attention to wisdom.

 

Lord God, cause me to desire wisdom, and to place knowledge in my heart.

 

The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

 

Proverbs 18: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a man's gift can open doors, and can bring him before great men.

 

Lord God, cause me to use the gifts You have given me in a way that suits Your purposes, and does not overturn justice.

 

A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

 

Proverbs 18: 16

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who is first to tell their side will seem right, but it is important to hear both sides before coming up with a judgment.

 

Lord God, cause me to have the wisdom to hear both sides of a matter, before coming up with a judgment.

 

He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.

 

Proverbs 18: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that at one time, casting lots was the accepted way to stop contentions, and make peace between the mighty.

 

Lord God, when appropriate to settle minor trivialities, cause me to know when to cast lots, and stop contentions. For important matters, cause matters to be settled appropriately in my life, through what is known of Your will.

 

The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.

 

Proverbs 18: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that an offended brother is harder to win than a fortified city, and his contentions are like bars of a castle.

 

Lord God, cause me to be careful not to offend those closest to me, but if I do, help break down the barriers, so I can restore those relationships.

 

A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

 

Proverbs 18: 19

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the words of our lips provide an abundant harvest, in which we will be filled.

 

Lord God, cause me to speak righteously, and to be filled from the fruit that they bring.

 

A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.

 

Proverbs 18: 21

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a false witness will not go unpunished, and those who speak lies, will not escape.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that many seek a generous man's favor, and everyone is a friend of one who gives gifts.

 

Lord God, cause me to cherish, and have loving concern for the needy.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the poor are hated by their brethren, and their friends go far from them. They pursue them with words, but they are not responsive.

 

Lord God, cause me to love the brethren, especially  if they are poor, and to not be neglectful of them.

 

All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth them with words, yet they are wanting to him.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that he that gets wisdom, loves his own soul, and he that keeps understanding, shall find good.

 

Lord God, help me get wisdom, and keep understanding.

 

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.

 

Proverbs 19: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a false witness will not go unpunished, and those who speak lies will perish.

 

Lord God, cause me to be a truthful witness, and to not lie.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is not right for a fool to live in luxury, or for a servant to rule over princes.

 

Lord God, cause my heart to understand, just as ruling over others is meant for princes, the joys of holy living are meant for those whose heart is set on wisdom.

 

Delight is not seemly for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a man's discretion can defer his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

 

Lord God, cause me to use sound judgment to control my anger, and mercy to overlook transgressions.

 

The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a king's wrath is to be dreaded, and his favor to be eagerly sought.

 

Lord God, cause me to fear You, and to eagerly seek Your favor.

 

The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a foolish son is his father's ruin, and a quarreling wife is like a constant dripping.

 

Lord God, first, cause me to be full of wisdom, and live wisely. Then, by my example, and through Your spirit, guide those around me to filled with wisdom, and live wisely

 

A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.

 

Proverbs 19: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that house and riches are the inheritance of father's, and a prudent wife is from the Lord.

 

Lord God, I may, or may not have an abundant inheritance from my father, but I desire wisdom above all, and ask You to bring a wise, and sensible spouse into my life.

 

House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.

 

Proverbs 19: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle soul will suffer hunger.

 

Lord God, cause me to be hard working, and not inclined to slothful living.

 

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

 

Proverbs 19: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who keep Your commandments keep their own soul, but those who are careless in their ways will die.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that to obey Your commandments is a kindness to myself, and to despise them is to seal my own destruction.

 

Lord God, cause me to keep Your commandments, and give life to my soul.

 

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that he that has pity on the poor, lends to You, and those that have given, You will pay him again.

 

Lord God, cause me to have pity on the poor, lending to them, and looking to You for replenishment.

 

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

 

Proverbs 19: 17

Lord God, thank You for instruction, to discipline our children while there is hope, and to not be party to their destruction.

 

Lord God, cause me to use wisdom in properly disciplining my children while there is hope.

 

Lord God, when You see I am disobedient, and there is still hope, do not deny me the chastening I need, to set me on a path to life.

 

Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

 

Proverbs 19: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those with a hot temper will bear the penalty, and if we rescue them, we will have to do it again.

 

Lord God, cause me to not overstep, and help out those bearing the consequences of their wicked behavior, but use Your power to chasten them correctly, and bring them back into the fellowship, where we love one another, and bear each others burdens.

 

A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if thou deliver him, yet thou must do it again.

 

Proverbs 19: 19

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to hear counsel, and receive instruction, so we may gain knowledge, and wisdom, with each passing day.

 

Lord God, cause me to listen to counsel, and receive instruction, so I may grow in wisdom and understanding.

 

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

 

Proverbs 19: 20

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that we may make many plans, but Your purposes will always prevail.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that although I may have things planned in my heart, they will not happen if you have a different plan.

 

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

 

Proverbs 19: 21

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better to have an honest compassion for people, and be too poor to help them, than to have say you have compassion, but prove it is not true by not helping when you are able.

 

Lord God, cause me to prove my compassion for the poor and needy, by helping them when I am able.

 

The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.

 

Proverbs 19: 22

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the fear of You tends to life, and he that fears You rests content, and will not be visited by harm.

 

Lord God, cause me to fear You, have life, be satisfied, and not be visited with evil.

 

The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

 

Proverbs 19: 23

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are slothful, may have the food they they need to sustain life in a bowl, and have their hand in the bowl, but will not even lift their hand out of the bowl, and bring the food to their mouth.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be slothful, especially with Your Word, which is able to bring me eternal life.

 

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

 

Proverbs 19: 24

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when punishing a scoffer, the simple may see, and learn wisdom, and when correcting someone who has understanding, he will increase in wisdom.

 

Lord God, cause me to be one who accepts correction, and increases in wisdom.

 

Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

 

Proverbs 19: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the son who lashes out at his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach.

 

Lord God, cause me to be someone who respects my mother and father, and those who have responsibility over me.

 

He that wasteth his father, and chaseth away his mother, is a son that causeth shame, and bringeth reproach.

 

Proverbs 19: 26

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that we not listen, or take heed of evil instruction, that leads us away from the words of knowledge and wisdom.

 

Lord God, cause me to not give my attention to evil instruction, that would lead me away from knowledge and wisdom.

 

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

 

Proverbs 19: 27

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that an ungodly witness scoffs at justice, and the mouth of the wicked takes in iniquity.

 

Lord God, cause me to be a truthful witness, and to not despise justice.

 

An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.

 

Proverbs 19: 28

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that judgments and punishments are certain, and appropriate for scoffers, and fools.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and keep me from the judgments awaiting scoffers and fools.

 

Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is an honor for a man to cease from strife, but a fool will quarrel.

 

Lord God, help me to stay away from strife and quarreling.

 

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the lazy person will not plow because it is to cold, and will beg in harvest, because his fields are empty.

 

Lord God, cause me to work hard, and do what is needful, even when it is not comfortable.

 

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

 

Proverbs 20: 4

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the prudent are quiet, not revealing everything they know, but a man of understanding actively seeks their wisdom, and will be able to draw good counsel from them.

 

Lord God, cause me to receive good counsel from those who have wisdom and understanding.

 

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

 

Proverbs 20: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that most men boast of their goodness, but are liars.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, wise, and merciful, and make my love for others be evident through my actions.

 

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a just man walks in his integrity, and blessed are his children after him.

 

Lord God, cause me to walk in integrity, and cause my children to receive Your blessing.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a good government should oppose evil.

 

Lord God, cause the government in my country, and those throughout the world to oppose evil.

 

Lord God, if You have placed me in charge of anything, cause me to oppose evil, and honor righteousness.

 

A king that sitteth in the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

 

Proverbs 20: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that no one can say they have made their heart clean, and they are pure from sin.

 

Lord God, cause me to know that I can not purify myself from sin, and can not cleanse myself my sin, but cause me to be cleansed of my sin by receiving Your son, Jesus Christ, who is able to purify me.

 

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

 

Proverbs 20: 9

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that false weights and measures are an abomination to You.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a man is not practicing righteousness, if his business dealings are dishonest.

 

Lord God, cause my business dealings to be honest, and truthful.

 

Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

 

Proverbs 20: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that even a child in known by the way he acts, whether what he does is pure, and whether it is right.

 

Lord God, cause me to do what is pure, and right.

 

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

 

Proverbs 20: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that ears that hear, and eyes that see, are given to us from You.

 

Lord God, thank You for my eyesight, and for the ability to hear.

 

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who love sleep may come to poverty, but those who wake up will be satisfied with bread.

 

Lord God, cause me to not slumber longer than is necessary, and to receive substance for myself and my family.

 

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

 

Proverbs 20: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that there are some who claim that a product they wish to buy has little value, but once purchased, they boast of getting a great deal because of their wit.

 

Lord God, cause me to be discerning when someone is claiming that what I am selling has little value, and do not let me be taken advantage of with dishonest words.

 

It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

 

Proverbs 20: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that there is gold, and there are rubies, but the words of knowledge are a precious jewel.

 

Lord God, cause me to seek for wisdom, and draw from those who have knowledge, like it is a precious jewel.

 

There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

 

Proverbs 20: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when someone is giving surety for a stranger, make sure and get some collateral, and hold the collateral in pledge if surety is put up for an immoral woman.

 

Lord God, cause me to have the wisdom to receive collateral when dealing with someone putting up surety for a stranger, and to hold it in pledge if they are putting up surety for an immoral woman.

 

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

 

Proverbs 20: 16

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that what is gained by deceit may seem pleasant at first, but the final result is far from it.

 

Lord God, cause me to not have gain through deceit, and to not have to deal with the consequences.

 

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

 

Proverbs 20: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, Seek counsel before starting a project, and only make war with good advice.

 

Lord God, cause me to seek counsel before starting a project, and obtain good advice before making war.

 

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

 

Proverbs 20: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a gossiper betrays confidence.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to avoid those who are gossipers

 

Lord God, cause me to avoid association with those who gossip.

 

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who curse their mother or father, will have their lamp put in obscure darkness.

 

Lord God, give me respect for my parents and those in authority over me, and keep my lamp shining.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that an inheritance gotten hastily may not be blessed.

 

Lord God, oversee how and when I get substance, so I will use it wisely, and You will bless it.

 

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not say that we will pay back evil, but to wait on You, and You will save us.

 

Lord God, watch over me, and when evil comes, cause me to show restraint, and wait for You save me.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is a snare to devote something to You, and then later recant that decision.

 

Lord God, cause me to make wise deliberation before making a commitment to You, and once committed, give me the ability and strength to stick to it.

 

It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

 

Proverbs 20: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a wise king scatters the wicked, and gives them punishment for their crimes.

 

Lord God, cause the governments to be wise, and to deal wisely with evil.

 

A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

 

Proverbs 20: 26

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that our spirit is Your lamp, and You being a light, are able to search our most inward parts.

 

Lord God, search me, and cause me to be wise, and use Your light to lead me in the direction You want me to go.

 

The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Your chastening cleanses away evil, and can cleanse even the inner parts.

 

Lord God, cause Your chastening to make me wise, righteous, and to follow the paths You have for me.

Lord God, cause me to be diligent in my work, and to not be hasty, trying to gain everything too quickly.

 

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

 

Proverbs 21: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that getting treasures by a lying tongue, is a fleeting vapor, and a snare of death.

 

Lord God, cause me to not use lies, or deceit, to obtain substance or wealth.

 

The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.

 

Proverbs 21: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that wealth gotten through illicit means will not satisfy, and will also bring judgment.

 

Lord God, cause my substance to be earned by righteous means, and not by dishonesty, or through injustice.

 

The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

 

Proverbs 21: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the ways of the guilty are crooked, but the ways of the pure, are upright.

 

Lord God, cause me to be upright, and my ways to be pure.

 

The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

 

Proverbs 21: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better to dwell in the corner of roof, than to dwell in a house with a contentious woman.

 

Lord God, cause me to pick a good spouse, that has a quiet spirit.

 

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.

 

Proverbs 21: 9

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, those who are wicked desire evil, and they are not pleased with their neighbors.

 

Lord God, cause me to discerning, that the wicked will not spare their friends if they get in the way.

 

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

 

Proverbs 21: 10

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the innocent receive wisdom when they see wicked men punished, and the wise receive knowledge through instruction.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, so I may receive knowledge through instruction, or innocent, so I can receive wisdom by observing the  punishment of the wicked.

 

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

 

Proverbs 21: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the righteous understand the future of the wicked, and knows You will overthrow them for their wickedness.

 

Lord God, give me understanding, that the prosperity of the wicked is temporary, because it is certain You will overthrow them.

 

The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.

 

Proverbs 21: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who stop their ears at the cries of the poor, will also cry himself and not be heard.

 

Lord God, cause me to be charitable, and to help those in need.

 

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

 

Proverbs 21: 13

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a gift can pacify anger, and is best done in secret, but should not be used to pervert justice.

 

Lord God, cause me to know when a gift given is secret can break down anger, and wrath, and keep me from using bribes to avert justice.

 

A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

 

Proverbs 21: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when justice is executed it is a joy to the righteous, but terror to those who practice iniquity.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and to have joy when judgment is done.

 

It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

 

Proverbs 21: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who wander out of the way of understanding, will dwell in the assembly of the dead.

 

Lord God, cause me to stay in the way of understanding, and to not wander from it.

 

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who love pleasure will become poor, and those who love wine and oil, will not become rich.

 

Lord God, cause me to not love pleasure, wine, or oil, but to love wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the wicked are made to suffer for the cause of the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

 

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the faithless step into the place of the upright, and Your wrath, passing by the upright, will fall on the faithless.

 

Lord God, cause me to have understanding that sometimes wicked people are punished, so the guiltless will be delivered.

 

The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with an angry and contentious woman.

 

Lord God, cause me to pick a spouse that is not contentious and angry, but has a gentle and quiet spirit.

 

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are wise keep oil and treasures in their dwelling, and the foolish spend everything.

 

Lord God, cause me to be wise, to keep treasures in my dwelling, and to not spend everything.

 

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who follows after righteousness and mercy, finds life, righteousness, and honor.

 

Lord God, cause me to follow after righteousness and mercy, and find life, righteousness, and honor.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that wisdom is greater than physical might, and even a fortress can not stand up to it.

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who guard their mouth and tongue, keep their souls from trouble.

 

Lord God, cause me to watch what I say, and what words I use, to keep my soul from troubles.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a scoffer is the name given to someone who is arrogant, and haughty, and who acts with excessive pride.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be arrogant, haughty, or act with excessive pride.

 

Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

 

Proverbs 21: 24

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the desire of the slothful will kill him, because his hands refuse to labor.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be slothful, and to take opportunities to labor with my hands.

 

The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.

 

Proverbs 21: 25

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are lazy, want but they do not have, but the righteous have enough to give away, and do not lack.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, hard working, and have plenty to be able to give to those in need.

 

He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

 

Proverbs 21: 26

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when the wicked sacrifice, it is an abomination, and much more, when they bring it with evil intent.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, so my sacrifices will be acceptable in Your sight.

 

The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

 

Proverbs 21: 27

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a false witness will perish, but a man who speaks sincerely, will be received.

 

Lord God, cause me to be a truthful witness, and to not speak of things that are not known to me.

 

A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the wicked continue in evil with no concern, but the upright consider their ways, and walk in Your paths.

 

Lord God, cause me to be upright, to walk along righteous paths, and to watch for Your leading.

 

A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

 

Proverbs 21: 29

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that there is no wisdom, understanding, or counsel against You.

 

Lord God, cause me to be discerning, that no true wisdom, or philosophy, will speak against You.

 

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

 

Proverbs 21: 30

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that although the horse is prepared for the day of battle, the deliverance is from You.

 

Lord God, when the wicked come against me, cause me to trust in You for deliverance.

 

The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Lord God, cause me to foresee evil, and hide in Your Son, and to not be foolish and pretend like it is nothing.

 

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

 

Proverbs 22: 3

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that through humility, and the fear of You, are riches, honor, and life.

 

Lord God, cause me to be meek, humble, and to fear You.

 

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that thorns and snares are in the path of the disobedient, and the obedient will be far from them.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and obedient, and to be kept away from the thorns and snares in the paths of the wicked.

 

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

 

Proverbs 22: 5

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that a child trained up in the way he should go, will not depart from it when he gets old.

 

Lord God, cause me to be trained up in the way I should go, and to train up those who come after me, in the way they should go.

 

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

 

Proverbs 22: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that the rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be poor, and to be discerning with my finances, and to not be a borrower of money, which would place me in servitude to pay back the debt.

 

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

 

Proverbs 22: 7

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who sow iniquity will reap worthless things, and their power to do evil will be destroyed.

 

Lord God, cause me to be righteous, and to not sow iniquity.

 

He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

 

Proverbs 22: 8

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who are generous will be blessed, as they share their food with the poor.

 

Lord God, cause me to be generous, and to share my substance with the poor.

 

He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that when the scorner is cast out, contentions will go out, and strife and reproach will cease.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be someone who scoffs, or scorns, and cause me to not be around those who do.

 

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone who loves pureness of heart, because of the grace of his lips, the king shall be his friend.

 

Lord God, cause me to love pureness of heart, for my lips shall be graceful, and You shall be my friend.

 

He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

 

Proverbs 22: 11

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Your eyes preserve knowledge, and You overthrow the words of transgressors.

 

Lord God, thank You for preserving knowledge, and for overthrowing the words of treacherous men.

 

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

 

Proverbs 22: 12

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that someone slothful will make up a story about a lion being in the streets, just so he will not have to leave his house.

 

Lord God, cause me to not be lazy, or to make up excuses not to work.

 

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who fraternize with immoral women, will fall into the pit of immorality and be destroyed.

 

Lord God, cause me to walk with You, and to not be deceived by the flattering words of an immoral woman.

 

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

 

Proverbs 22: 14

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that foolishness is bound in the heart of the child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.

 

Lord God, cause me to receive the correct amount of discipline for foolishness to be driven from me, and as a parent, give me the wisdom to discipline correctly to drive foolishness from my children.

 

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

 

Proverbs 22: 15

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who oppress the poor to increase their riches, and those who give to the rich to seek favors, will surely come to poverty.

 

Lord God, cause me to not oppress the poor for my gain, and to not give money to the rich to gain their favor.

 

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

 

Proverbs 22: 16

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to pay attention and listen to the saying of the wise, and to apply our hearts to understanding.

 

Lord God, cause me to pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise, and to apply my heart to Your knowledge.

 

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

 

Proverbs 22: 17

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that it is a pleasant thing if we keep the words of the wise, and Your knowledge with us, and to have them ready on our lips.

 

Lord God, cause me to keep the words of the wise, and Your knowledge with me, and ready to share them with those seeking wisdom.

 

For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

 

Proverbs 22: 18

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that Your word teaches to trust in You.

 

Lord God, cause my trust to be in You.

 

That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You have provided to us excellent things in counsel and knowledge.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not rob the poor, because they are poor, or take advantage of the helpless when there is opportunity.

Lord God, thank You for Your instruction, to not make friends with those who are angry, and do not go with those who are furious.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that those who make friends with those who are angry, and who go with those who are furious, will learn their ways, and it will be a snare to their soul.
