arrow_up_1     Chapter 1

(Hanna) And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

1-Samuel 1: 6

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

1-Samuel 1: 11

Lord God, thank You for granting Hannah's request for a son, and for bringing her son, Samuel, up to serve You as Your prophet, and as the last Hebrew Judge before a king was anointed to rule over Israel.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

1-Samuel 1: 20

arrow_up_1     Chapter 2

There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

1-Samuel 2: 2

Lord God, thank You for Your truth that You give both life, and death. You place in the grave, and You raise up.

The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

1-Samuel 2: 6

Lord God, thank You for Your truth, that You make poor, You make rich, You bring low, and You lift up.

The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

1-Samuel 2: 7

Lord God, You raise the poor from the dust, and You lift the needy from the garbage pile. You set them among princes, and give them a throne of honor. For the pillars of the earth are Yours, and You have set the world on them.

He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.

1-Samuel 2: 8

He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

1-Samuel 2: 9

Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

1-Samuel 2: 30

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.  And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.
